Willing but Waiting

By Rachel Reigard

In 1st grade, my teacher had us write down what we wanted to do when we grew up. Then we had to go around in a circle and guess who wrote what. I very proudly wrote, "I want to tell people about God!" When she finally read my prompt, everyone laughed, and suddenly, that boldness in me shrank. I reluctantly said, "It's mine." I then realized if I wanted to fit in, I was going to have to keep my faith a secret. I did that for the next 15 years. I let the enemy take away the calling God placed over my life due to the fear of what others would think, say, and feel. I compromised God's will in the hopes that people would like me, even if that meant I didn't.

If this sounds familiar and you are exhausted from living a double life, then you have come to the right place. This blog is designed to help the reader stay encouraged and passionate about their calling while in the waiting season. If you want to be confident and prepared for whatever God has for you, then let's be friends. I should warn you that this world is not kind to those who decide to live boldly in faith, but the trade-off is so worth it.

When the Father of Heaven calls me his own, this world can call me whatever it wants.

"If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you."

John 15:19

Hi, I’m Rachel! I am a pastor, writer, and passionate encourager for those in the waiting season. Alongside my husband, Josh, who works for a national youth ministry, we’re both deeply committed to helping others prepare for the big things God has in store. When I'm not leading a kid's ministry or writing, I’m sipping on some cold brew, dancing, baking, or enjoying the beauty of God’s creation with my three fur babies—Waffles, Biscuits, and Gravy. I believe we’re all called to lead in our unique ways, and my mission is to help you build the confidence to step into your purpose with boldness.

My life verse, Jeremiah 17:7-8 says, "But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank,
with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought.
Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit."

Like a tree planted by water, when we place our trust in God, we are rooted in His faithfulness—even in the unknown seasons. In those moments where the future feels uncertain or slow in coming, I hold onto the promise that God is at work beneath the surface, preparing us for what’s ahead. Just like the tree that remains steadfast, we too can thrive, even in times of waiting, knowing that our trust in God will bear fruit in His perfect timing. No matter how long it may take, we are still growing fruit, and as you may know, good things take time.
