Are you willing but waiting?

rachelkreigard

Are you willing to go wherever God has called you to go? Are you willing to be whoever God wants you to be? Is your heart on fire for a cause that you can hardly focus on anything else? Then you are one of the few who is willing to go into battle in this daily spiritual war we are facing. Many may say they would proudly go into the fight, but only a few are on the field. So what happens? Where do all the leaders go?

They get discouraged by the wait.

We expect overnight success or we act first and ask questions later. When we don’t get the answers we want in the timeline we want, we figure God has overlooked us yet again. The discouragement grows into bitterness, and we give up.

We shove down the assignment God has given us and settle into a mundane cycle of excitement, little patience, discouragement, and then, ultimately, complacency. We got lost along the way; we thought God said no when what he actually said was to wait.

Are you willing but waiting? Waiting for God to act, move, open doors? If this is you, do not give up. In this season of waiting, we are learning, character-building, and growing stronger in faith, but we need to be able to learn.

Lamentations 3: 25-26, “The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

Your true heart's intentions are exposed when you wait. If you need it to be about your own success, then your dream will die very quickly, as success rarely comes quickly. But if your dream is from the heavenly circles, then you will find it is much harder to give up. You will find it does not feed on success but on obedience. Dreams from God can only grow when they are matched with a continuously willing spirit. We may know God reveals dreams to us in pieces, but we need to recognize those pieces no matter how small they may appear to be. The whisper of God quietly infiltrates your heart, and it will not let go, even while you painfully wait, but you must be willing to wait.

Will you be brave enough to be content even with no answers? To be obedient in the waiting? If you are unsure where to start, for the next year, I will be providing monthly encouragement to build godly confidence and readiness for when the salvation of God finally comes. Pick up the shield of faith and get ready to lead yourself while you do nothing at all but prepare your heart for whatever is next.
