There are not a lot of things in this world that can make my blood boil, but when I see our Savior politicize for someone’s personal agenda a fire is ignited. Our God sent his perfect Son to die on the cross for every one of us, not for his picture to be used in a heretical post, article, or argument. Even if it was not done on purpose when we use Jesus in such a way we are belittling the Savior of the world to a political figure. Jesus did not come down to earth and leave heaven to be “left” or to be “right”.
1 Timothy 1:15 says, “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them all.”
He came to love others, care for others, and set a standard of how others are to be treated but most importantly he came to save souls.
Our political figures, parties, and issues change but Jesus is constant. Jesus’ love for you is eternal, in fact, Jesus loves you enough to call you to leave your life of sin so he can be with you eternally. Do we all struggle with sin? Absolutely but Jesus reminds us that with a godly love comes conviction, conviction to walk away from our sinful will and into the Father’s. We do not have to be perfect to enter the kingdom of God but we do need to submit to his teachings and not pick and choose what parts of scripture we are going to believe in.
Romans 10:9-10 says, “Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes and is justified, and with the mouth, one confesses and is saved.”
We are meant to believe in him, and confess our sins to him. In the act of confessing, we are acknowledging what we did was sinful and asking God to help us in our struggles. It is important to mention that asking God to help you with your weaknesses is a holy act, however, using Jesus as a way to justify your sins by manipulating sculpture stirs up more confusion in an already lost world.
Jesus came to die for us but there are still millions of souls separated from him. When we label Jesus as liberal or conservative then we are making him unrelatable to the other side. Jesus came to save all, and people turning to him should be more important than whatever agenda your side is trying to push. Jesus did not just come for one country over the other or one people group over the other, he came for all. He is so much bigger than what we giving him credit for. As Christ followers, this world is not our home we are just passing through. If we put even half of our energy into helping others know Jesus that we do arguing our politics we would see a positive shift in the faith. Christians can certainly take a stance and know what they want to support but the enemy is creating an incredible amount of division in our world today and using politics to do so. Let us not help him by feeding into that division but let us focus on unity. So what do we all have in common? We are all sinners in need of a savior. We may come from different families, countries, and experiences but the one person who has the power to bring us together is Christ.
2 Corinthians 13:11 says, “Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.”
